About me and my practice

Our counsellors offer an open-minded, non-judgmental, and accepting environment. We believe in treating our clients with respect, warmth and sensitivity with an understanding of how difficult it can be to make the first step into getting some support.

From the beginning of your first contact with our service, you will be listened to, understood and supported. Each counsellor offers a unique approach that is tailored to suit your requirements and needs and to aid a deeper understanding of your self and your feelings. This can help you manage your emotions more effectively and help you begin to make changes, take control of yourself and to feel happier in your life.

Our in-person practice is based in the heart of Aston Fields in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and has easy access to various transportation links including Bromsgrove Train Station (10 minute walk) and Bus routes (directly opposite).

Our nationwide online services offer the same standard of practice, as with in-person and our Counsellors are all sufficiently experienced and trained to ensure the therapeutic space is a safe, open-minded, non-judgmental, and accepting environment.

Experience

HT Counselling was founded by Helen Townsend in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, over a decade ago. After many years in private practice Helen expanded to HT Counselling Service in 2017 to build a wider range of services incorporating other professionals, experienced and new, alongside innovative services such as online and creative therapy. In 2021 the practice was further expanded, incorporating an Affordable Counselling Service (ACS) which sees online services now covering nationwide areas such as Edinburgh and London. ACS also supports NHS Healthy Minds as a Recognised Counselling Service (RCS).

The practice is known in the local area as one of the most sought after Therapy services offering Affordable and accessible Counselling and Psychotherapy both locally in Bromsgrove, and nationwide. The centre has beautifully furnished rooms offering a safe, quiet and convenient location along with the opportunity to incorporate a range of services all under one roof.

Additional Information

I provide counselling supervision for various helping professionals, including counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, and others.

With experience in working with young people, I offer tailored supervision for therapists working with this group. With a background in private practice and counselling service management, I aim to foster competence and creativity in my supervisees.

I believe supervision should stimulate growth through challenge and reflection, fostering effective and ethical therapy. Like therapy, supervision is a professional relationship aimed at improving client work quality. I prioritise creating a supportive and safe supervisory environment, allowing therapists to reflect on their therapeutic relationships.

Drawing from my dual roles as a counsellor and service manager, I understand the complexities of counselling practice and aim to support supervisees effectively.

This experience and variety, aids clients to move towards their goals, build their resilience, promote growth and confidence and regain control over their life.

Clients can choose:

Which counsellor they would like to see.
What approach (modality) they would like.
Frequency of each therapy session
Day/time of each therapy session (5 working days available Mon-Fri).
Due to the teams high standard of training, we can offer a strong ethical standing, professionalism and respect towards the counselling and psychotherapy professions.
